Dr. Mimi Koehl

Dr. Mimi Koehl is captivated by how tiny animals can swim and navigate in turbulent, wavy water flow in the ocean. A professor of integrative biology at the University of California, Berkeley, Koehl earned her Ph.D. in Zoology at Duke University. Koehl is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Her awards include a MacArthur “Genius Grant,” a Presidential Young Investigator Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, the John Martin Award from the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography, the Borelli Award from the American Society of Biomechanics, and the Rachel Carson Award from the American Geophysical Union.
